Salt Lake City, Museum, Tracy Aviary, Temple Square

Busy day today, featuring Salt Lake venues we had yet to see. (We awoke to some snow, but the sun appeared by afternoon - although it was cold!) ! We started at the new Natural History Museum, next to Red Butte Gardens on the University of Utah campus. A very interesting "green" building. Utah has the largest collection of dinosaur bones and they're all here! A special exhibit of Navajo baskets was awesome.

At lunchtime we headed down the hill to UMCOR's warehouse (United Methodist Committee on Relief) and met with our friend Brian Diggs, the Director. We chatted with a volunteer group from Tucson who was busy making health kits. We were saddened to hear that Mica had been very ill and still wasn't up to snuff. Brian took us over to the Lucky 13 Pub for a great burger!

After lunch we headed over to Liberty Park and the Tracy Aviary. It was a surprisingly well done exhibit of many birds species. Then over to Temple Square for a walk-around. The spring flowers are in and they're spectacular as always.

For dinner we headed five miles up Emigrant Canyon to the famous Ruth's Diner, which had been highly recommended by both Bryan and Shawn. We feasted on Mac and Cheese and Asparagus Pasta.

A cloud hung over us today after hearing the news from the Boston Marathon.
